Maternity allowance not covered by statutory health insurance
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzPlease register at the Federal Insurance Office - Maternity Allowance Office.
The following documents are required:
- the fully completed application form – if possible before delivery,
- the certificate of the presumed date of delivery, which may be issued in due time (i.e. not earlier than seven weeks before this date and in no case after the date of delivery) – also if possible before the delivery,
- the certificate completed, signed and stamped by your employer,
- the birth certificate issued by the registry office for maternity assistance to your child
The certificate of the presumed date of delivery may not be issued earlier than seven weeks before that date.
You can lodge an objection against the decision of the Federal Insurance Office. In principle, the objection is possible within one month or, if the decision does not contain any information on appeals, within one year after the decision has been announced.
If you are dismissed during pregnancy or during the protection period after childbirth with the consent of the competent authority, or if your employer is unable to pay the maternity allowance due to an insolvency event, you will also receive the maternity allowance from the Federal Insurance Office - provided that it is also responsible for the payment of maternity benefit - on application. In these cases, it is particularly important that your applications and the certificate of the presumed date of delivery are received by the Federal Insurance Office before the birth. Otherwise, the BVA must start from the actual date of delivery when examining the claim. In certain circumstances, this may even mean that the subsidy cannot be paid for the entire period of protection. The application form for the maternity allowance allowance will be sent to you by the Federal Insurance Office on request.
Further information can also be obtained from the hotline of the Maternity Allowance Office of the Federal Insurance Office on 0228 619-1888.
