Determining special needs education
Source: Serviceportal Rheinland-PfalzPupils with special educational needs attend special schools in Rhineland-Palatinate or take part in inclusive education. The decision is made by the parents after consultation with the schools. There is a state-wide network of special schools and special needs schools.
Priority schools are primary and secondary schools that offer inclusive education close to home. They
- offer both the school leaving certificate of the respective school type and the special school leaving certificates of the special schools;
- can be attended by pupils with all types of special needs.
Special schools
- offer the main areas of support
-- Learning, holistic development, language, social-emotional development, motor development,
-- Vision (school for the blind and visually impaired)
-- Hearing (school for the deaf and hard of hearing)
Depending on the focus of support
-- the entry level of primary school,
-- the primary level and the lower secondary level,
-- the primary level, the secondary level and the vocational school level (work level).
