For the attendance of general education schools (e.B Realschule, Gymnasium) BAföG can exceptionally be granted from grade 10 if you do not live with your parents and the school cannot be reached from the parents' place of residence in a reasonable time.

Attendance at least two years of vocational schools (e.B vocational secondary school, vocational school, etc.) is usually eligible. One-year vocational schools are only supported in exceptional cases. The prerequisite for the support is that you cannot otherwise raise the necessary funds for your livelihood and education.

You will receive BAföG at the earliest from the beginning of the month in which you start your training, but only after you have also submitted an application.

Educational support is usually granted for one school year. After that, you must submit an application for further funding. In order to avoid payment interruptions, you should submit the application for further funding at least two months before the end of the approval period of the previous application.

Rhineland-Palatinate offers you the opportunity to complete your application online. All you have to do is print out the forms, sign them and then send them to the responsible authority. After completing the application forms, you will receive an overview of documents that you must submit additionally. If, in addition, evidence is still missing, these will be requested by the responsible authority from you.
