Further training
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzContinuing education is an independent part of the education system under public responsibility, on an equal footing with schools, universities and vocational training. It serves the whole person, their personal, professional and social needs.
Continuing education serves the realization of the right to education. It should contribute to equal opportunities, in particular to the equality of women and men and of disabled and non-disabled people, through needs-based educational opportunities, reduce educational deficits, enable the deepening, supplementation and expansion of existing or the acquisition of new knowledge, skills and qualifications and enable people to act independently and self-determinedly in private and public life as well as to participate and share responsibility in professional and public life.
Continuing education should be open to all people, regardless of their gender and age, their education, social or professional status, their political or ideological orientation and their nationality. The continuing education institutions offer a wide range of general, political and vocational continuing education measures. These include measures for vocational qualification, preparation for school-leaving qualifications, literacy, history, politics, psychology, philosophy, art, regional and local studies, natural sciences, technology, artistic and handicraft design, languages, home economics and health education.
Continuing education is intended to promote the willingness of individuals to engage in lifelong learning, contribute to equal opportunities and help to reduce educational deficits.
