To have your qualification obtained abroad checked, you must submit an application. This should be sent to the relevant office. Which office is responsible for you depends on the following factors
- Your foreign qualification,
- your place of residence or work,
The competent body will compare the qualification you obtained abroad with the German reference qualification. If this comparison does not reveal any significant differences, you will be granted full equivalence.
If there is partial equivalence in the regulated professions, the competent authority will give you specific measures with which you can compensate for the differences found.
differences found.
"Regulated" means that you require recognition of your professional qualifications in order to practice the profession or use the professional title.
In the professions for which you do not necessarily need recognition (non-regulated), you will receive a notification in which the differences identified are described in detail. You can use this to apply directly to employers or choose an individually suitable further training course.
The recognition procedure ends with either a positive or a negative decision.
There is no provision for partial recognition.
