Teachers with professional qualifications from the EU/EEA/Switzerland; apply for recognition
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzUpon your application, the Ministry of Education can examine the professional recognition of the profession of teacher in the public school service regulated in Germany and determine the recognition as a teaching qualification with a teaching qualification acquired in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Application
The application must be submitted using the application form and enclosing the required documents.
Confirmation of receipt
You will receive confirmation of receipt of the application and the documents within one month, stating which documents are missing, if applicable.
Decision
After receipt of the complete documents, a decision will be made on the recognition of your teaching qualification - if necessary, taking into account an expert opinion from the Central Office for Foreign Education at the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs in Bonn (ZAB) or the responsible office via the Internal Market Information System (IMI).
You will receive written notification of the recognition of your teaching qualification. Recognition may be granted on condition that significant differences compared to a Rhineland-Palatinate teaching qualification are compensated for by a compensatory measure (adaptation course or aptitude test).
Applications for recognition must be submitted to the Ministry of Education - Department 2.
The application can also be sent to the Single Point of Contact for Administrative Matters.

- your professional qualification certificate entitles you to direct access to the teaching profession in your country of origin and the job description essentially corresponds to the job description for the respective teaching profession in Rhineland-Palatinate,
- the training required to obtain the professional qualification, taking into account any relevant professional experience or other formally recognized knowledge, skills and competences, does not differ significantly from the training required in Rhineland-Palatinate for the respective teaching profession.
