Apply for a passport with 48 pages
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzFor frequent travellers, a passport with 48 pages can be issued.
You must apply for the passport in person. The application is filled on the spot with the processor. You only need to sign it. When applying, you will be fingerprinted (flat print of the left and right index finger).
The passport will be produced by the Bundesdruckerei and sent to the relevant office. You can then collect the passport.
- You are a German citizen
- There must be no grounds for refusal
- valid identity document (passport, identity card, children's identity card, children's passport)
- current biometric photo, in passport format (45 x 35 mm) in portrait format, frontal photo without border, without head covering and without covering of the eyes
- if applicable previous passport
- birth certificate, if applicable
When your passport is issued for the first time or when you move to a new municipality, further documents such as civil status certificates or citizenship certificates may be required. Please inform yourself in advance at the responsible office.
Application before the age of 24:
- Passport - 48 pages: 59,50 Euro
- Express passport - 48 pages: 91,00 Euro
Application after the age of 24:
- Passport - 48 pages: 81,00 Euro
- Express passport - 48 pages: 113,00 Euro
The fees are doubled if:
- the issuance has to be made outside the official office hours, or
- you apply for the issuance by a passport authority which is not locally competent (e.g. municipality of a secondary residence)
Period of validity:
- for applicants under 24 years: 6 years
- for applicants aged 24 and over: 10 years
- Passport: approx. 4 weeks
- Express passport: within 3 working days
