Passport: Enter child
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzThe entry of a child in the parental passport is no longer permitted since 01.11.2007. The background to this is the adaptation to international developments to provide separate documents for travellers of all ages in order to prevent abuse and protect children.
Due to further changes in European regulations, child entries in the parents' passport are invalid from 26 June 2012 and no longer entitle the child to cross the border. Thus, from this day on, all children (from birth) must have their own travel document when travelling abroad. This also applies to travel within the European Union (Schengen area), even if border controls are suspended in this area. For parents as passport holders, however, the document remains valid without restriction. Further information can be obtained from the competent passport and identity card authorities.
