Have a new address entered on your ID card

• You register in person at the Citizens' Registration Office at your new place of residence.
  • You present your valid ID card and your registration confirmation.
  • The Citizens' Registration Office at your new place of residence will change the address in the chip on your ID card and affix a sticker with your new address to your ID card.
• You can authorize another person in writing to change the address on your ID card at the Citizens' Registration Office at your new place of residence.
• If your municipality offers the re-registration as a digital service (electronic residence registration), you can also use this. With digital re-registration, the address data stored on the chip is updated digitally. You will receive the sticker for your ID card by post.

There are no costs.

You must have your new address changed on your identity card within 2 weeks of moving into your new main residence.
