European Certificate of Good Conduct
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzCitizens who – in addition to or instead of the German – have the nationality of one or more other Member States of the European Union and apply for a certificate of good conduct must receive a so-called European certificate of good conduct from the Federal Office of Justice. In addition to the German certificate of good conduct, the European certificate of good conduct shall contain notification of entries in the criminal record of the home Member State in the language transmitted, provided that the Member State of origin provides for transmission in accordance with its law.
You need an extended (German or European) certificate of good conduct if you want to work – especially on a voluntary basis – in the children's and youth sector (e.g. school, sports club) or work with persons in need of care or people with disabilities. An extended certificate of good conduct also includes convictions that are not included in the simple certificate of good conduct and relate in particular to crimes against sexual self-determination as well as child- and youth-related offences.
