Applying for a new license for pilots

You can apply for the reissue of your pilot's license online:

• Go to the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de and complete the online application.
  • You will need the federal organization account (bund.ID) to apply online.
• You can upload your documents directly and apply for the authorizations.
• Submit the application online.
• Then send the original of your license to the LBA by post.
• The LBA will check your application.
• Once it has been processed and approved by the authority, you will receive a notification, further results documents and a fee notice.
• Once you have paid the fees - with the exception of the reissue in the event of a loss report - you can retrieve the decision and receive the newly issued license by post.

• You can apply for the reissue of your license with at least one of the following reasons:
  • Reduction of the validity of authorizations
  • Notification of loss
  • Change of address
  • handwritten entries are no longer possible on the license
  • No indication of reasons

• You are
  • a natural person from Germany, an EU country or a third country,
  • a legal entity based in Germany or represented by natural persons from Germany, an EU country or a third country.

The other documents you need to submit depend on the reason for your application:

for a reduction:

• Copy of the current license (front and back)

for a loss:

• Copy of your identity card or current registration certificate

for notification of a change of address:

• Copy of the current license (front and back)
• Copy of your identity card

if no further handwritten entries can be made on the license:

• Copy of the current license (front and back)

for an application without reasons:

• Copy of the current license (front and back)

if the declaration cannot be submitted:

• Attachments to the declaration

if there is no power of attorney for representation:

• Proof of authorization to represent
• Completed form for declaration of criminal offenses

in the case of a declaration of assumption of costs to an authorized person:

• Proof of the declaration of assumption of costs
