Extend residence permit in the event of a ban on deportation

As a rule, you must apply for the extension of your residence permit personally - at an early stage before the expiry of the validity of your residence permit - at your competent immigration authority.

Arrange an appointment with the local immigration authority. You can also inform yourself on the respective website of the Immigration Office about the procedure of the application and which documents you have to submit in which form.

If your application is granted, the Immigration Office instructs the Bundesdruckerei to produce the electronic residence title (eAT) with a new validity date.

With regard to the duration of the procedure until the residence permit is handed over, please contact the competent immigration authority.

• The residence permit shall be renewed if the conditions which must be met at the time of first issue are still met.

• A revocation of the determination of the deportation bans by the Federal Office is not available.

Exemption from fees for receipt of social benefits

Apply for the extension of your residence permit at your competent immigration office in good time before expiry of the validity period. Inquire about this at your responsible immigration office.

As a rule, when applying for an extension, you will be informed by the competent immigration authority of the duration of the procedure (about 6 to 8 weeks).
