Hold European elections
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIn the European elections, you can cast your vote at the polling station in your constituency.
You cast your vote at the polling station as follows:
- You enter the polling station and receive an official ballot paper. The electoral board may require you to show your polling card.
- You go into the polling booth, mark your ballot paper there and fold it in such a way that your vote is not recognizable.
- Then leave the polling booth and go to the table of the electoral board. Upon request, you must hand in your polling card and, especially if you do not present your polling card, identify yourself.
- As soon as the clerk has found your name in the electoral roll, your eligibility to vote has been established and there is no reason to reject you, you can drop your ballot paper into the ballot box.
- The clerk will make a note of your vote in the electoral roll.
- If you are unable to read or have a disability that prevents you from marking or folding the ballot paper or placing it in the ballot box yourself, you can appoint another person to help you cast your vote. This person must limit themselves to fulfilling your wishes. They may visit the polling booth with you if this is necessary to provide assistance. He or she is also obliged to maintain the confidentiality of any information obtained in the course of providing assistance.
To be allowed to vote in the European elections, you must be eligible to vote and be registered on the electoral roll.
