Youth health check-up
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzThe statutory health insurance funds cover the costs of medical screening examinations for insured children and adolescents, also known as U-examinations and J-examinations. Children and young people up to the age of 18 can take advantage of these examinations. They are used for the early detection of illnesses that endanger their physical, mental or psychosocial development. Up to the age of six, this also includes early detection examinations for dental, oral and jaw diseases, e.g. determining the risk of tooth decay and advice on nutrition and oral hygiene.
The Federal Joint Committee regulates the content, type and scope of the examinations in the guideline on the early detection of diseases in children (U1 to U9) of the guideline on youth health examinations (J1).
