Apply for a state allowance for a private supplementary long-term care insurance policy
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzThe state supports you in setting up private long-term care insurance by providing you with a monthly allowance. If you become in need of care, you are entitled to a certain amount of money for each statutory care level. This is at least EUR 600 for care level 5.
- You take out private supplementary long-term care insurance with a long-term care insurance company of your choice.
- You authorize your long-term care insurance company to submit the allowance applications for you when you take out the policy.
- The long-term care insurance company of your supplementary long-term care insurance will send your application to the ZfP, stating your social security number.
- If you do not have a social security number, the ZfP will assign you an allowance number.
- The ZfP will determine your allowance and pay it to your long-term care insurance company. The statutory payment dates are April 20 and December 20.
- If you are not entitled to an allowance, your long-term care insurance company will inform you.
- You are covered by social and private long-term care insurance.
- You have reached the age of 18.
- You have not received any benefits due to the need for long-term care before taking out private supplementary long-term care insurance.
- You have paid contributions of at least EUR 10.00 per month.

Power of attorney for the long-term care insurance company so that it can submit the annual allowance application for you from the time the contract is concluded.
There are no costs.
The long-term care insurance company must submit the application to the NDT from January 1 to March 31 of the calendar year following the contribution year.
Processing Time: 3 Days
- Within one year of notification by the long-term care insurance company, you have the option of having the allowance formally determined by means of a special application in accordance with Section 128 (2) sentence 9 SGB XI.
- The assessment procedure ends with the issuance of a legally enforceable decision.
