Apply for partial unemployment benefit
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzPartial unemployment benefit is a wage replacement benefit and is intended to partially replace the pay that employees are unable to earn due to partial unemployment.
You are entitled to partial unemployment benefit if you
- are partially unemployed,
- have registered as partially unemployed with electronic proof of identity, for example with an ID card with online ID function, electronically in the specialist portal of the Federal Employment Agency or in person at the relevant employment agency and
- have completed the qualifying period for partial unemployment benefit.
Entitlement to partial unemployment benefit arises when all eligibility requirements are met for the first time: as a rule, this is the day of personal (partial) unemployment registration.
Duration of partial unemployment benefit
You are entitled to partial unemployment benefit for 6 months.
Amount of partial unemployment benefit
Your partial unemployment benefit is generally calculated on the basis of the average gross salary you earned from the lost employment in the last year before you became entitled to partial unemployment benefit. The amount is
- 67 percent for partially unemployed persons with one child
- 60 percent for other partially unemployed persons
of the gross pay reduced by the statutory deductions that usually apply to employees.
While you are receiving partial unemployment benefit, you are generally covered by statutory health, nursing care and pension insurance.
You are covered by accident insurance if you receive a special request to visit the employment agency or another office while receiving benefits.
You must notify any changes (such as illness, vacation, relocation, taking up employment) immediately, preferably online. Alternatively, you can also notify us in writing, by telephone or in person.
