Food: Market surveillance
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzAgricultural products of animal and plant origin are checked by quality inspectors for compliance with the EU and German quality standards, guest characteristics and trade classes in production facilities, egg packing stations and slaughterhouses as well as in wholesalers and retail distribution centers (the so-called "bottlenecks" of marketing). Uniform quality criteria facilitate Community trade and thus ensure that the population is supplied with consistently high quality products.
The monitoring activities take place primarily in the market sectors of beef and pork, eggs and poultry, fruit, vegetables and table potatoes (economic consumer protection).
