Registration of a cremation
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIf you wish to bury a deceased person in the form of a cremation in Rhineland-Palatinate, you require a written burial permit from the local regulatory authority of the place of burial.
In addition, a special official post-mortem examination (so-called 2nd post-mortem examination) must be carried out before cremation. For this, you must apply for cremation at the responsible authority/cemetery.
Cremation consists of two elements, namely the cremation of the deceased person and the subsequent burial of the urn with the ashes.
The urn with the ashes must be buried in a cemetery. The type of burial depends on the services offered by the respective cemetery provider.
Note: Most of the formalities are usually taken care of by the appointed funeral home. You will also receive reverent advice there. Ask for an explanation of the services and prices on offer before placing your order.
