Applying for an operating license for a branch pharmacy

An operating license is issued upon application after

• The competent authority determines that the legal requirements have been met.
• If the requirements are met, the operating license will be issued.
• An acceptance inspection of the operating premises must be carried out by the competent authority before operations commence.

• There is an emergency in the supply of medicines.
• You have the legally required premises.
• You are the owner of a nearby pharmacy.

• Declaration of full legal capacity
• German license to practice as a pharmacist

• Medical certificate of good health
• Certificate of good conduct document type 0
• Notification of whether and, if so, at which location you operate one or more pharmacies in a member state of the European Union or in another contracting state of the Agreement on the European Economic Area or in a contracting state to which Germany and the European Union have granted a corresponding legal entitlement by treaty
• Proof that you have the required business premises

The competent authority may also request further documents.
