Responsibility lies with the Directorate of Supervision and Services.

According to the Plant Protection Act (PflSchG), the use of plant protection products is only permitted to persons who have the necessary professional knowledge and skills and can guarantee that no avoidable harmful effects on nature, humans and animals occur as a result of the handling of plant protection products. Plant protection expertise must therefore be proven by persons who:

• use plant protection products in an agricultural holding (including horticulture or forestry) or for the protection of stocks;
• carry out a notifiable activity (e.g. dispensing plant protection products in the retail trade or providing commercial advice on the use of plant protection products) or
• instruct or supervise persons who use plant protection products in the context of an apprenticeship.  

• Notification form (form for the declaration of activity in the case of commercial application and consultancy as well as in the trade of plant protection products), as well as
• Copy of the certificate of competence of the required technical knowledge and skills in the handling of plant protection products
• Proof of current further education must also be attached if the certificate of competence is older than 3 years.

Information on which training qualifications are recognised can be obtained from the responsible service centres for rural areas in Rheinhessen-Nahe-Hunsrück and Rheinpfalz.

The notification of the activity is free of charge.

The activities must be reported to the competent authority before commencement.
