Source: BUS Rheinland-Pfalz
The use of plant protection products should be minimized as far as possible on areas used by the general public.
These areas include, for example
- Public parks and gardens,
- green spaces in publicly accessible buildings,
- publicly accessible sports grounds including golf courses,
- school and kindergarten grounds,
- playgrounds,
- cemeteries and
- Areas in the immediate vicinity of healthcare facilities
If you are a qualified person, you can only use certain plant protection products on these areas with the approval of the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL).
You will receive approval if:
- the plant protection product is already authorized and an extension of the authorization is applied for only for this specific application and
- there is a public interest in the application and
- the examination shows that the plant protection product has no harmful effects on the general public due to its chemical properties when used properly and as intended.
Excluded from authorization are plant protection products that
- are classified in certain hazard classes or
- which are endocrine disruptors for humans.
