Apply for frequency allocation for satellite radio (SNG)

The Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) is responsible for managing the frequency spectrum in Germany. This means that it regulates and coordinates the use of radio frequencies by various services, including satellite communication.

With Satellite News Gathering (SNG), you can transmit video and audio signals from different locations via satellite radio. For example, if you want to send news to a radio station as part of a report on a vehicle with appropriate equipment.

In Germany, every frequency use requires prior frequency allocation. If you want to transmit video and audio signals for broadcasting distribution at changing locations via satellite radio, you must apply to the Federal Network Agency for the corresponding frequencies for SNG. To do this, you must specify the frequencies used or the bandwidth occupied.

The Federal Network Agency will check whether the frequencies you specify could interfere with existing radio links. If there is no risk of interference, you will be allocated the corresponding frequency range.

The use of SNG is intended for a period of more than 30 days. If the period of use is shorter, you must apply for a short-term frequency allocation.
