Apply for frequency allocation for GNSS repeaters
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzThe satellite signals of the global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), for example NAVSTAR-GPS, GALILEO and GLONASS, are sometimes not available locally because they are shielded in vehicle hangars or in laboratories and workshops, for example. In such cases, it may be necessary to illuminate part of the unsupplied zone with the help of GNSS repeaters.
To be able to use GNSS repeaters, you must
- belong to one of the authorized user groups and
- have the corresponding frequencies allocated to you.
To do this, you submit an application to the Federal Network Agency.
In the application form from the Federal Network Agency, you must
- specify the exact location of your GNSS repeater system and
- describe the rooms and parts of the building to be covered using a planning sketch.
Due to the high potential risk of interference when using GNSS repeaters at airports and in the vicinity of approach sectors, a distinction is made in the allocation procedure between
- GNSS repeaters within defined protection zones and
- GNSS repeaters outside defined protection zones.
Further information can be found in the administrative regulation on frequency allocation for GNSS repeaters.
The Federal Network Agency allocates frequencies for GNSS repeaters for a maximum of 10 years. After that, you must reapply for use.
