Apply for approval as a continuing airworthiness management organization (CAMO)
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzA Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization, or CAMO for short, is an organization that ensures the continued airworthiness of aircraft. This type of company has been defined by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). In order to operate as a CAMO, your company must first obtain approval from the German Federal Aviation Authority (LBA). All changes to the approval of a CAMO are also subject to approval.
As a natural or legal person, you can apply for CAMO approval and subsequent changes online.
You can submit an application to obtain an approval as a
- CAMO in the EASA scope or/and as a
- CAMO in the national scope.
In addition to your basic approval, you can apply for the following privileges:
- Right to airworthiness review,
- Right to extend the airworthiness review certificate,
- Right to issue the permit to fly and
- Right to subcontract.
- Right as CAMO for several air carriers within a group of companies ("One CAMO")
You can also apply online to change a CAMO. A change is necessary, among other things, for

Change in the scope of the authorization:
- Extension and/or reduction by types, series or groups of aircraft,
- Approval and/or return of rights,
- Approval and/or deletion of sub-awards,
- Return of partial approvals,
- Changes to management personnel,
- Changes to airworthiness review personnel,
- Changes to personnel for issuing the permit to fly,
- Changes in personnel for the renewal of the airworthiness review certificate,
- Changes to locations, for example in the case of new or discontinued locations or changes of address,
- change of name or legal form,
- changes to the technical logbook or
- changes to the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME).
