Apply for recognition (or change of address) of an aeromedical examination center
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIn aero-medical examinations, experts check whether people are fit to fly. Such medical examinations may only be carried out by recognized examination centres that have been approved by the German Federal Aviation Office (LBA).
The examination centers must meet special aeromedical requirements. They must be registered as recognized examination centres in the current certificate for aeromedical examiners (AME for short), the so-called AME certificate.
If you are an aeromedical examiner or a class 1 or 2 aeromedical examiner, you can have the following approved:
- to open a new examination center
- relocate an existing examination center or change the address
New examination centers
As an AME, you can maintain a maximum of one main inspection station and 2 additional inspection stations (branch inspection stations).
Relocation of an inspection center
If you relocate an inspection station, you must have it inspected and approved again before you are allowed to carry out roadworthiness tests there.
Swapping main and branch examination centers
You can swap main and branch examination centers. However, this is costly and time-consuming for you. In this case, you must contact the LBA before applying for a class 1, extension or renewal. You must coordinate the exchange with the LBA in advance.
