People with rather low incomes, who have high energy costs and payment worries, are helped by the consumer advice centre as part of the free energy cost advice. In a multi-stage consultation, the causes of the high energy consumption are investigated and solutions are found together.

The experts of the consumer advice centre

• check your accounts and contracts,
• try to prevent or remove an energy shut-off together with you and contact your supplier to do so,
• find out what savings opportunities you have in your home or if there are other ways to reduce your energy costs,
• think about what further steps could improve your situation in the long term,
• refer them to other counselling centres, e.g. if there is a risk of indebtedness.
