Applying for a permit to operate custody facilities

You must submit a written application to apply for authorization for a storage facility.

• Open the form "Application for authorization for the operation of storage facilities" (Form 0392) on the Customs Administration website, download it and complete it. It is advisable to discuss the application with the responsible officer at the main customs office.
• Attach the completed "Questionnaires for customs authorizations" Parts I to III and V to the form.
• If you are an authorized economic operator, you do not need the questionnaires.
• Send the documents to your main customs office. The main customs office in whose district the main accounts for customs purposes of your company are kept or are accessible is responsible.
• The main customs office will check your documents.
• You will receive an approval or a rejection.

• Your company is based in the customs territory of the Union.
• You provide a guarantee in the form of a comprehensive guarantee.
• You ensure customs supervision.
• You keep appropriate records in a form approved by the customs authorities with information and details, in particular on the goods held under physical control, their customs status and their movements.
• You have not violated any customs or tax regulations and have not committed any serious criminal offenses in the course of your business activities.
• You do not use the storage facility for retail sales (e.g. as a sales area).

Parts I to III and V of the customs authorization questionnaire
Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) do not need the questionnaire.

There are no costs for you, but you will usually have to provide a security deposit.

You must apply for the permit in good time before the temporary storage facility is put into operation.

Non-Union goods in temporary storage must be transferred to another customs procedure or re-exported within 90 days.

If no other Member State is involved, a decision is generally taken within 120 days of the application being accepted.
