Apply for funding for a new project or a continuation project from the "Transitional aid from the KWI title" funding program
Source: Serviceportal Rheinland-PfalzIf you are a non-governmental organization registered in Germany and are planning a transitional development assistance project for which you would like to receive financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), you must submit an application. You can apply to the BMZ for funding for new or follow-up projects.
You can submit a new or follow-up application for project funding online or by post to the BMZ.

Before you can submit an application, an executing agency review must take place. The assessment is a two-stage process.
- Go to the online application portal on Engagement Global's Bengo website. Register using your organization name, name (first/last name), e-mail address and a password you have created yourself. After confirming your registration (opt-in), you can fill in the form for the sponsor check online with additional data.
- The second stage of the sponsor check is carried out by Division G22 of the BMZ.
- Once you have successfully passed the sponsor check, you will receive a sponsor number which you must quote when applying to the BMZ for a new or follow-up project.
- You discuss your project plans with the BMZ and submit a project outline to the BMZ.
- If you receive positive feedback from the BMZ, you submit a full application for a new or follow-up project.
If you want to submit the application online:
- Call up the online application and complete it electronically. The application wizard will guide you step by step through the necessary information.
- Upload the required documents and submit the application. It is not possible to submit the documents later.
- The BMZ will check your documents and contact you if anything is unclear or information is missing.
- The BMZ checks the content, legal and financial implementation options, decides on the funding and sends you a notification.
- During the project period, the BMZ checks the implementation via interim and utilization reports and initiates a payment or reclaim accordingly.
If you wish to submit the application by post:
- Print out the completed application and send it with the required documents to the BMZ by e-mail or post. It is not possible to submit the documents later.
- The BMZ will check your documents and contact you if anything is unclear or information is missing.
- The BMZ checks the content, legal and financial implementation options, decides on the funding and sends you a notification.
During the project period, the BMZ checks the implementation via interim and utilization reports and arranges payment or reclaims accordingly.

- You have passed a two-stage assessment.
- You have submitted a project idea that has been selected.
- You have submitted a project outline that has also been selected.
