Applying for permits for helicopter flight operations
Source: Serviceportal Rheinland-PfalzIf you operate helicopters, you will need permits from the Federal Aviation Authority in certain cases.
You can
- apply for new approvals for one or more helicopters of the same type or series,
- add a helicopter to an existing permit for the same type or series,
- add a new type or series to an approval,
- change your existing scope of approval for one or more helicopters,
- remove helicopters from an approval,
- return an existing permit.
With this application, you can obtain the following approvals as a commercial air transport operator (CAT):
- Emergency medical helicopter operations (HEMS)
- Helicopter winch operations (HHO)
- Offshore helicopter operations (HOFO)
- Night vision systems (NVIS)
- Electronic pilot kit (EFB)
- Transportation of dangerous goods (DG)
- Performance-based navigation (PBN)
- Public Interest Site (PIS)
- non-commercial and specialized flight operations of aircraft of an AOC holder by another operator
- Take-off and landing without the possibility of a safe emergency landing
- Principles of fuel determination (Fuel Policy)
- Helicopter operations over areas with difficult environmental conditions outside densely populated areas
- Methods for determining minimum flight altitudes
- Flights in low visibility (LVO)
- Other authorizations
As a non-commercial operation with technically complex motor-powered aircraft (NCC), you can apply for the following permits:
- Offshore helicopter operations (HOFO)
- Transportation of dangerous goods (DG)
- Other permits
As the operator of a specialized flight operation (SPO), you can also apply for the following permit:
- Specialized flight operations with high risk (SPO High Risk)
The application may be subject to a fee. If necessary, further applications must be submitted. You will find the relevant information in the application form.
