Specialist companies must provide evidence of their specialist company status to the lower water authority in whose district they operate upon request. It must also be possible to provide the operator of a system with proof of specialist company status if the operator commissions the specialist company to carry out activities requiring specialist company status.

The regional offices for water management, waste management and soil protection of the Struktur- und Genehmigungsdirektion Nord (Koblenz, Montabaur, Trier) or Struktur- und Genehmigungsdirektion Süd (Kaiserslautern, Mainz, Neustadt a.d.W.).

The Institute for Heat and Oil Technology has published a list of approved specialist companies.

The local water authority responsible will inform you which activities at a system for handling substances hazardous to water are subject to the specialist company obligation.
