Applying for admission to a section of the dental examination

You must apply in writing for admission to a section of the dental examination. Submit your application with the required documents to the office responsible for you.

The examinations are taken before a state examination commission (examination board).

In order to be admitted to the respective section of the dental examination, you must enclose the required evidence with your written application.

1 The application for admission to the first section of the dental examination must be accompanied by the following documents in the original or as a certified copy:

• Proof of identity
• Proof of higher education entrance qualification and, in the case of certificates obtained abroad, also the notice of recognition from the competent authority under state law
• transcript of records or the documents that replace the transcript of records at the respective university as proof of study periods. You can submit this proof at a later date within a period specified by the office responsible for you if you are not yet able to attach it to the application
• The certificates in accordance with the model in Annex 5 to the ZApprO (licensing regulations for dentists) or a summary certificate in accordance with the model in Annex 6 to the ZApprO regarding regular and successful participation in the courses prescribed in Annex 1 to the ZApprO. If you are unable to submit this certificate with your application, you can submit it at a later date within a period specified by the competent authority.
• Proof of training in first aid, which must not be older than three years at the time of application
• Certificate of nursing service

2. the application for admission to the second section of the dental examination must be accompanied by the following documents in the original or as a certified copy:

• Proof of identity
• The transcript of records or the documents that take the place of the transcript of records at the respective university. You can submit this proof at a later date within a period specified by the office responsible for you if you are not yet able to attach it to the application.
• The certificates according to the model in Annex 5 to the ZApprO or a summary certificate according to the model in Annex 7 to the ZApprO on regular and successful participation in the courses prescribed in Annex 2 to the ZApprO. You can submit this proof within a period specified by the office responsible for you if you are not yet able to attach it to the application.
• the certificate confirming that you have passed the first section of the dental examination

3. the application for admission to the third section of the dental examination must be accompanied by the following documents in the original or as a certified copy:

• Proof of identity
• The transcript of records or the documents that take the place of the transcript of records at the respective university as proof of study periods. You can submit this proof at a later date within a period specified by the office responsible for you if you are not yet able to attach it to the application.
• The certificate according to the model in Annex 5 to the ZApprO or a summary certificate according to the model in Annex 8 to the ZApprO on regular and successful participation in the courses prescribed in Annex 3 to the ZApprO and successful participation in courses in the subjects and cross-sectional areas listed in Annex 4 to the ZApprO. You can submit this proof within a period specified by the office responsible for you if you are not yet able to attach it to the application.
• the proof according to the model in Annex 12 to the ZApprO on the acquisition of expertise in radiation protection for the field of application of intraoral X-ray diagnostics with dental tube devices, panoramic tomographs, cephalometric radiographs of the skull
• Certificate of passing the second section of the dental examination
• Certificate of the clinical traineeship

The application for admission must be received by the responsible office by January 10 or June 10.

The summons for all examination dates is issued no later than five calendar days before the examination date.
