Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzTo operate a meat processing company, you need an official approval, which you must apply for.
Approval is granted on request after at least one official on-the-spot check. It may be granted for a limited period and subject to conditions. With the approval, your permanent establishment receives an approval number, which is made public.
Please contact the responsible district administration or the city administration of the respective district-free city.
- the legal provisions on compliance with food and feed law as well as on animal health and animal welfare are fulfilled.
- there are no facts justifying the assumption that the food business operator does not have the necessary reliability to manage the business.
The application shall be accompanied by:
- an operating mirror,
- a draft of a scale operating plan from which
- the material and personnel flow as well as
- the installation of the machines are visible
(in the case of craft enterprises: documents showing the activity envisaged in the respective premises) and
- Evidence of the reliability of the food business operator
In principle, admission must be applied for before commencing work.
Activities other than the processing of meat that require the handling of food of animal origin, such as cheese production or wholesale of food of animal origin, are in principle subject to authorisation.
