Operations Officer for Water Protection Order

The competent authority may order that:

1. the discharge of waste water into waters for which there is no obligation to appoint water protection officers anyway;
2. the discharges of waste water in wastewater treatment plants,
3. the operators of plants for the handling of water-hazardous substances in accordance with Section 62 paragraph 1 WHG,
4. the operators of pipeline installations in accordance with point 19.3 of Appendix 1 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act

to appoint one or more water protection officers.

In the absence of any other appointment of a water protection officer, by way of derogation from water protection officers for waste water discharges by local authorities, associations formed by local authorities or water and soil associations, the manager or manager responsible for the waste water systems or the plant manager or the plant manager of the self-operating plant formed for the waste water plant shall be the
