Applying for a slaughter permit

Please contact the responsible district administration or the city administration of the respective district-free city.

As a person who slaughters the animals, you must have the necessary knowledge and skills to do so. Special features exist for domestic slaughter.

Commercial slaughter may only be carried out in establishments approved for this purpose, which must therefore be known to the authorities.

The written application for commercial slaughter must contain the following information:

• the name and address of the applicant,
• address of the slaughterhouse,
• the name and address and information on the expertise of the persons carrying out the stunning and killing of the animals,

Type and number of animals to be slaughtered.

The fees are based on the corresponding fee statutes of the districts or the district-free cities.
