Metrology and calibration

The State Office of Metrology and Verification Rhineland-Palatinate is responsible for the enforcement of legal metrology regulations, regulations under the Medical Devices Act and regulations under the Energy Consumption Labeling Act and the Energy Consumption-Related Products Act.

The main activities of the State Office have the following objectives:

to ensure the accuracy of measurements

• in commercial transactions and to protect fair trade,
• when purchasing measurable goods or services to protect consumers,
• in official transactions and for measurements in the public interest.

to ensure that

• purchasers of energy-related products are provided with all legally required information on energy efficiency,
• products on offer comply with all statutory requirements regarding environmentally friendly design and the consumption of energy and other important resources,
• offered pre-packaged products and foodstuffs comply with the requirements for the nominal filling quantity.
