Apply for recognition of a breeding organisation
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzAnyone acting in legal transactions as a recognised breeders' association or a recognised breeding company is subject to common rules governing the breeding of purebred breeding animals (cattle, buffaloes, pigs, sheep, goats and equidae) and hybrid breeding pigs, trade in them and their movement into the European Union.
Please contact the Service Centre for Rural Areas of the West Palatinate with your application for the recognition of a breeding association or breeding company.
According to the Animal Breeding Act, anyone who is considered a breeding association or breeding company
- has legal personality in accordance with the applicable legislation of the Member State in which they are applying for recognition;
- have sufficient and qualified staff, facilities and equipment for the effective implementation of the breeding programmes for which they intend to apply for authorisation;
- is in a position to carry out the necessary checks for the collection of pedigree data of the breeding animals covered by the breeding programmes;
- has a sufficiently large breeding stock in each breeding programme in the geographical area where the breeding programmes are carried out;
- is able to generate or have generated and use the data on the breeding animals necessary for the implementation of the breeding programmes.
The application must include the breeding program details listed in the link below. In particular, the breeding programme shall comply with the requirements set out in Part 1 of Annex I.
According to the Animal Breeding Act, in addition to the above-mentioned proofs and documents, the application must contain the following information about those involved in the breeding programme:
- the name, address and legal form of the breeding association or breeding undertaking, as well as the names and addresses of the persons authorised to represent them;
- details of the person responsible for the breeding work (breeding manager);
- the names and addresses of the head office and offices of the breeding association or headquarters, the offices and establishments of the breeding company as well as details of the functions of the establishments.

- represent the basic decisions for breeding, and
- ensure that only the breeders can decide on the breeding interests of the breeders' association, provided that the statutes provide for membership.
A written application is required.
Recognition as a breeding organisation is granted for a limited period of time. It is at least 2 years.
