Apply for funding for scientific projects for the preservation, research and communication of German culture and history in Eastern Europe

- the former eastern provinces of the German Reich and
-
the settlement areas of the Germans in the states
- Central and Eastern Europe,
- Eastern Europe,
- Southeast Europe and
- Central Asia.
Her project examines the German cultural heritage of Eastern Europe between the Middle Ages and the present. The promotion of young academics, international cooperation, interdisciplinarity and publicity are welcomed. Where possible, research into German cultural heritage should be carried out in cooperation with institutions and stakeholders from Eastern Europe.
They can receive funding for the following measures, for example:
- Monographic studies and other research projects,
- symposia, conferences, workshops,
- summer academies and similar university events,
- Compilation of encyclopaedias, specialist dictionaries, thematic and regional specialist bibliographies etc. with the aim of publication,
- Source indexing, including scientific analysis,
- Projects in the field of digitization of cultural heritage
- Publication of scientific works in printed form or on the Internet
You will not receive funding for
- university theses and dissertations
- Founding new book series
Once the project has been completed, you must provide evidence of what you have spent the funding on. To do this, you must keep all invoices and receipts relating to the project expenditure. In a final report, you must make statements about the work carried out and the achievement of the project goals. You submit your application in writing to the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM). You are not entitled to funding approval.

You can also apply to the BKM and the federal states for funding for cultural mediation projects and the preservation of German cultural objects within the framework of cultural funding in accordance with § 96 of the Federal Expellees Act (BVFG).
