Apply for funding from the "Funding Network for Interdisciplinary Social Policy Research - FIS" program

The funding procedure is a two-stage process. In the first step, you submit an expression of interest with a brief project outline online. In the second stage, the selected project sponsors are invited to submit an online application. The funding decision is made by the BMAS, taking into account the vote of the scientific advisory board.

Expression of interest:

• Expressions of interest are submitted via the BMAS funding portal.
• The project outlines submitted in the first step of the procedure will be checked for plausibility and suitability by the BMAS or by an approval authority entrusted by the BMAS with the administration of the funding.

Application:

• If your project outline has been assessed as eligible for funding, you will be asked by the BMAS or the granting authority to submit an application for funding via the BMAS funding portal. The minimum components of this application are
  • Details of the applicant institution
  • Cooperation with partners
  • Research needs, objectives and innovative content
  • Implementation of the project and risk analysis
  • Awarding of contracts and fees

Funding decision and approval:

• Once the applications have been received, external expert opinions are obtained on your respective application. The BMAS makes the funding decision on the basis of the external reports and taking into account the vote of the Scientific Advisory Board.
• Following the subsequent in-depth review under funding law, the project management organization will send out the grant notifications.

You can submit applications:

- You are a legal entity under private and public law, for example independent and public institutions, universities, research institutions, educational institutions, associations and corporations.

The following requirements must be met:

• Project leaders of the applying institution must demonstrate the relevant expertise in the respective subject area.
• The grant recipients must be willing to contribute their results and experience to the professional exchange with those involved in other funded research projects.

The qualifications and experience of the project staff must be documented and signed by them.

• On request, you must provide the approval authority with evidence in individual cases.
• As the applicant institution, you undertake to
  • to provide the BMAS with the data and findings obtained as part of the project in a form that can be passed on after completion of the project, with the aim of enabling long-term data backups or secondary evaluations, for example;
  • to prepare the results of their projects for a wide audience in addition to the specialist public. The corresponding publications are to be published on the Internet, among other places.

The following are excluded from funding

• Applicants whose assets are the subject of insolvency, composition, sequestration or bankruptcy proceedings are not eligible for funding.
